NEW: Mini Repair Cafe for Computers, Phones and Jewelry

While you can get many items back in working order at the LBC Fix It Clinics, you can’t bring computers, mobile phones, or jewelry there…

So we’re hosting a mini repair cafe!

For Jewelry

  • Common repairs: Replacing broken clasps, re-attaching jump rings, re-stringing beads on wire or elastic, simple gluing, and reshaping bent metal links.
  • Limitations: We generally do not perform micro-soldering, high-end fine jewelry casting, or gemstone resetting requiring jeweler’s torches.

For jewelry, often particular parts are needed. Give us details in advance (when your rsvp) , and we’ll do our best! (You might need to supply any specific replacement clasps or unique parts.)

For computers and phones we can:

  • Guide you to see what’s slowing down your device and recommend actions you can take to speed things up.
  • Troubleshoot other issues – like not fully booting up and errors.
  • Guide you on installing (and familiarizing yourself with) a Linux OS – allowing Windows 10 users especially to breathe new life into their laptops that are out of support. (If you want to go that route you would lose ALL data on that machine and are fully responsible for ensuring that you have a copy of important data.)

We are NOT

  • A data recovery service
  • Responsible if you choose to wipe your phone or laptop and lose something.  You are responsible for taking a backup beforehand.
  • Able to fix devices that don’t power on at all. It must show something on the screen – it can be an error or just a few lines of text, but it must show something.
  • Able to repair screens

We are happy to look at any devices you bring in, but currently only recommend:

  • Laptops purchased in the last 7 years
  • Samsung/Google phones from the last 5 years
  • Android phones from the last 2 years.

Register for one or both dates, and we’ll send you the Zoom link.

Timebanking in a Nutshell

A request becomes a conversation. A conversation becomes a relationship. A relationship becomes trust. And trust becomes community.

Timebanking comes to life wherever people discover that they have something to offer and something to receive.

Not because we are self-sufficient. Not because we are dependent. But because we are interdependent.
